Giordano Bruno

Filippo Bruno Bruno was born in Nola, Italy in 1548. He then, moved to Naples for more advanced studying and after he went to Naples he joined the Dominican Order. He later, near the age of 21, had changed his name to Giordano, after his tutor's name because of the influence he was left with. He was then convicted of heresy in about 1576. He fled to Geneva where he then lived there for 5 years and gave memorable speeches. He then ended up in Paris in the year 1581. King Henri III had become aware of the public speeches and lectures that he had given because of the popularity. He had published two books that indicated his belief in "Renaissance magic." He had written plays which had been forgotten because of his philosophy. Henri III had then sent Giordano Bruno to England, not because any reason other than a gift. He was then for two years while in England, protected by the French embassy because of the hatred for his books. He had taught that Copernicus's theory of a heliocentric solar system to everyone he could during this time and on for the rest of his shortened life. Bruno then fled the French embassy and Paris after an act of violence over a thought of science. And where did he go other than Germany. For 8 years he travels being trialed after returning to Paris and as is being trialed he ends up in Rome where he is recommended to be burned at the stake by the pope. He then is executed in the year of 1600 for heresy.
Now that you know of the life of Giordano Bruno here is his philosophy. He was a monk that believed in mystical magical beings and had wrote books and plays to try and get his believes out. He had proclaimed that Copernicus's theory of a heliocentric universe. Galileo had even had influences from Giordano Bruno. He had believed in humanism,which is the belief that humans are all powerful. The main reasons for his moving around during his life was because of the opposite beliefs of the Catholic church that he had.
